The Trust

The Trust

Michael, Anthony and Charles Smith established the Trust on 1st January 2005 as a registered charity (No. 1112972) with the aim of helping disadvantaged children both in the United Kingdom and internationally. The owners have always wanted this business to be a place where the employees can say they do more than just sell shoes!

All the money donated to charity by the company is disbursed via the trust. The income of the trust is donated from group profits.

To date we have allocated over £350,000.  Below is a selection of how the money has been spent:

Shepherd of the Hills Children’s Home, Philippines

This is a home that is based north of Manila in the Philippines. We are supporting some of the social workers there that help rescue children from the streets and give them a proper education and new start in life. Here you can see local children  helping to re-surface their football pitch.

(£18,000 donated in 2007)

Ministries Without Borders, Philippines

This charity works with the Manygan (Hill People) tribe, on the island of Mindoro. They feed them and help to give children, in particular, an education that they would otherwise not get. They are treated poorly by the Filipino government and have no rights nor a legal place to live. The money is supporting a qualified social worker and will support others as and when needed.

This building is the latest project to construct a maternity clinic.

(£12,000 donated in 2007)

Wishes 4 Kids, Leicester, UK

This charity makes dreams become a reality for children suffering from terminal illnesses and severe disabilities. These gifts benefit both the child and their family.

Each year we volunteer to help out at the Wishes 4 Kids annual get-together at Castle Donnington racetrack. We have donated c. £9000 to this charity to help some of the children's wishes come true. Some of the money we have donated paid for a new wheelchair for Rachel (age 11) who was presented with the chair in 2006.

CORD

In 2007 the trust donated a vital new vehicle to the charity CORD. CORD’s mission is Conflict Transformation.  They are a humanitarian organisation working with displaced people and communities affected by violent conflicts worldwide.

The vehicle will be used in Burundi for CORD's peace building work over the huge region. The programme in Burundi supports refugees who are returning home after years of war to find their country devastated and their homes destroyed. CORD is working to help rebuild roads, bridges and provide seed backs and tools and repair schools.
